Wehr's Covered Bridge by olivetreeann

Wehr's Covered Bridge

Wehr's Covered Bridge was stop number 3 on our tour. This bridge was originally called Seiger's Covered Bridge because it was built next to the grist mill constructed by Ephriam Seiger in 1862. It crosses the Jordan Creek. After it changed several owners over the years, William Wehr eventually bought the mill and it has remained with his name ever since. The mill was torn down in 1951, but the concrete dam built in 1904 to replace a wooden one slightly upstream remains. The land surrounding the bridge has been turned into a recreational park and the bridge is still in use today.
Nice editing. Really interesting history too.
