We started the New Year with a visit to the Knoxville Zoo. We saw elephants, bears, giraffes, tigers, monkeys, penguins, and otters! Most of us felt the otters were the highlight of the day. This fellow was particularly amusing and he seemed to be as interested in the boys as they were in him.
What a trip! The ride down was uneventful. My visit to the acupuncturist didn't bring down the swelling in my knees, but the herbal pain patch she gave me really helped keep things comfortable for the long drive. We spent a lot of time playing with our grandsons and catching up with our son and daughter-in-law. As usual the visit came to an end quickly and when Wednesday rolled around we packed up the car and started to head home. But when we stopped to put gas in the car, Jeff noticed the radiator was "wet" when he checked the oil. Without warning it had "died"! We bought some coolant and were hoping to nurse it home, but 30 minutes later, we knew the car wasn't going to make it. We found a nearby shop that could fix the car on Friday, called our son to meet us there and road service to take us to them. We were glad to have discovered the radiator problem before we'd gotten any further and were also grateful to our beautiful daughter-in-law for putting up with us for a few extra days! My knee seemed to deteriorate even further in Kentucky in spite of all efforts to stay off of it so this week I am in search of an orthopedic surgeon and hopefully that will bring on the healing I need!
Sorry to hear that you are having those knee problems. Its a tricky situation as the knees support us so strongly! In addition, car problems! Glad you have family near!
Fab family photo. Sounds like you really enjoyed being with family but what an eventful time with the car and your knee. I hope you get sorted with both soon, especially the knee. It is amazing what can be done now. I am so glad I had both hips done. Now bionic :))
Thank you Brian, Maggie, Dawn, Rob, Margaret, Lynda, Joan, Lou Ann, Henri and Mandy!
yes, lots of fun watching them with the otter- I also took a video- love the versatility of digital! Thanks for the well-wishes on my knee. I'll keep you all posted of the progress!
I am so sorry to hear of all your troubles with the car and your knee! I have been praying so hard for your knee to get better. In spite of that I am glad you got to spend time with your grandchildren so that you can get fabulous photos like this with them. What a cherished memory
@daisymiller Thank you Daisy! @grammyn Thank you Katy! And thank you for your prayers. I know many have been praying for me and I think that those prayers have helped me to make the right decision. I also choose the natural course first but sometimes it's necessary to use technology instead. So keep praying! We have no idea how we are going to pay for this.
I'm so sorry to hear of the car dramas, but just as well Jeff found the problem close to family. Sorry too to hear of your ongoing knee problems, knees are such tricky joints when they go bung. Don't stress too much about seeing an orthopaedic surgeon, it may be the best thing after giving the knees every chance to heal themselves. I have two metal knees, and don't even think about them except at airport security.
