Catching up with a few shots from my walk last Sunday at Columcille (pronounced koom-key-lay)- a lovely park based on the rock structures found at Iona off the Scottish coast.
I loved the way the shadows and light highlighted the colors of these stones- and how appropriate to find a cross carved in the stone on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Nice light and textures. The cross is also appropriate since Iona, Scotland is often referred to as the cradle of Christianity (per http://www.welcometoiona.com)
@bruni If you look at that central bright white vertical line you'll see another line running horizontally through it. That's the cross. It's made of the natural colors in the stone and not drawn on or carved in. But I'm sure the people who put up this structure saw it and that's why they included it. Thanks Bruni!
@randystreat Thanks Kathy- for some reason the link didn't work, but I'll find it on the web when I have a little extra time this week- sounds very interesting!
Thank you Bill, Dorre, Babs, Joan, Rob, Sylvia, Marilyn, Francoise, Dione, Ferry, Wendy, Brian, Shutterbug, and Judith! I appreciate your views and comments and apologize for taking so long to make note of that!
