The Jerusalem Cross by olivetreeann

The Jerusalem Cross

The ladies of the Stine Sunday School class have been decorating our sanctuary's Christmas tree with these Crismons for a LONG time!

Crismons are specialized Christmas ornaments that depict symbols associated with Jesus and the Christian faith. This four-fold cross is a variation of The Jerusalem Cross which was designed around 1280 and originally symbolized the city of Jerusalem with several significant buildings- the Tower of David, the Dome of the Rock, The Holy Sepulchre and the walls of the city itself. Of course it looks nothing like any of the places it's supposed to resemble but it sure looks pretty here.

No need to comment- I am still slowly filling in December 2021.
