Turkey Tails

Jeff has begun splitting our firewood for the winter. He discovered this log yesterday. It was almost completely covered with what we call "Turkey Tails". I'm not sure if they're are a fungus, lichenor moss, but I'd never seen them look like this before.

Some type of fungus I assume. It definitely makes an interesting photo.
