Lethargarians scatter left and right as the watchdog dashes up to Milo's car. Now dogs dashing after cars is really nothing new. And Milo isn't really surprised to see a dog in this magical world. No, what is surprising to Milo is not the presence of a dog, but what the dog looks like. His bark sounds like a dog. He has a perfectly normal head, four feet, and a tail. But smack in the middle of his body is a loudly ticking alarm clock!
"What are you doing here?" growled the Watchdog.
"Just killing time, " replied Milo apologetically. "You see-"
"KILLING TIME!" roared the dog- so furiously that his alarm went off. "It's bad enough wasting time without killing it!" And he shuddered at the thought.
I used to have one of those old-fashioned alarms with the bells on the top which practically shook itself off the end table every time it rang. I used it all the way through college. While most students had alarms that rivaled the loudest air raid sirens, my clanger managed to wake me up without giving me a heart attack. But somewhere in the early years of my marriage it disappeared or died. I honestly don't remember what happened to it. So today's shot depicting the Watchdog's clanging alarm comes to you courtesy of one of my favorite effects.
Cool shot, Ann. Your comment made me laugh!! I don't like alarms . . any alarm! Of course, we all need them, but as a "late night" person, alarms irritate me! :) (That's a killer alarm that's in you photo! LOL)
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! @alia_801 Thanks Alia- that's the "Hypnotic" effect from Picnik. @digitalrn Thanks Rick- you know it makes me feel oddly old thinking that I don't see that kind of alarm clock much anymore! @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry! They are a result of the alarm being black and the reflection of what was on the computer screen when I took the shot. @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen. I really love what this effect does to photos and I'd probably go nuts with it way too much if I didn't really limit my use of it! But this time it was appropriate and useful so whohoo, I got to use it!! @steeler Thanks Howard! @bk12racing Thanks Mike! @prttblues Thanks Bev- wow, I bet one of your light shots would look really cool in this effect.
i love alarm clocks, especially the one with two bells on top that falls off the table when it rings :-) i bought one for the partner and he loves it, wakes him silly in the early mornings when he has to do his paper business. he actually bought a digital one two months ago, but ended up giving it to my niece. silly little thing you have to talk to it to give you time and it talks instead of an alarm sound. the first morning he used it he almost had a heart attack thinking there was a woman in his bedroom and he knew it wasn't me. so he's back to the two-bell alarm clock.
@summerfield That is such a great story!! I have two clocks by my bed- one is the regular clock that lights up so you can see what time it is when you wake up in the middle of the night (like you really want to know then, right?), but it's alarm rattles me to no end! So, I have a little travel clock which doesn't light up, but has a nice little "beep beep" alarm that wakes you up without giving you a heart attack in the process. I'm with your partner, I think I'd prefer the two-bell clanger. With my imagination, I'd incorporate the talking clock into my dream and never wake up!
