I had another blank page today and decided to use it as a wild card in which I gave myself the ability to skip a page and pick another word. So I headed to the next page where I found the word trees. That worked really well for me since I'd taken many pictures of the snow on the trees yesterday. Even though this shot also features one of the streets that lead us home, I love the way the trees arch over the road and how beautiful they look all dressed in white. In winter, we only see the dark colors of the trunks and the splotches of white snow, but since this storm came so early on, we have some extra color from the leaves which haven't fallen to the ground yet. An added bonus in my opinion!!
As MIlo talks to the cabinet of King Azaz the Unabridged, he learns that Dictionopolis is the place where all the words in the world come from. "They're grown right here in our orchards," he is told.
"I didn't know that words grew on trees," said Milo timidly.
"Where did you think they grew?" Milo is questioned. The count then tells him that since money doesn't grow on trees, why not words? Sounds logical to me; how about you?
@dmariewms Thank you Marie! I think the muted colors make the picture. @changingtides Thank you Alllie! At the time I took it, all I really wanted was to be home, but looking back on it now, I do like this shot and the way the road goes straight through it. @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole- be careful if you do, it's a bit slippery there! @alia_801 Thank you Alia- and now it's mostly gone! That's ok by me! @hinkipunk94 Thank you Sophie- that's not a bad idea! @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- this is pretty road all year long, but certain weather conditions do make it seem like it stretches forever. @coastandcactus Thank you Cissy! I'm glad it gets those creative juices going. Of course this shot might be even more lovely with a Pileated Woodpecker somewhere. @cdford Thanks Cindy- yes we lost electricity sometime on Saturday while we were at the funeral and didn't get it back until Sunday evening somewhere around 7:30. It was so great when it came back on. I think I heard that about 150,000 Met Ed customers were without electricity. I do hope your relatives get power soon! After losing it for a few days due to Irene, and now this, I'm really thinking we need to invest in a generator!
A very serene looking picture. love the first snow when it only come a little at a time like here where it just covered the trees with a see through blanket.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! And thank you so much for the fav!! @bruni Thank you Bruni! All in all we had about 8 inches of snow! There are still a few patches left today- but I think they won't make it in the sun. @mrssmith Thank you Carla! Yes, this stretch has no homes on it, so it does have that isolated feel. It's a very pretty wooded area- but just out of site is another small cluster of homes at an intersection. That's one thing I enjoy about photography. It zeros in on one moment, one spot, but you never know what is just out of the camera range!
i don't want to think about snow yet since i will be going on a holiday and i'll be flying out of buffalo where they get the white stuff so much. snow, snow, go away, come again in july. :-)
great shot, ann.
