Well, it's hard to believe we have come to the end of our journey with Milo, for Milo has truly only started his in the book. "But Ann!" you are saying, "What happens to Milo!? How can you leave us hanging like this!?" I know it is difficult to leave him suspended in the Lands Beyond, but the truth of the matter is, you don't have to! You can get a copy of the book and find out what happens for yourself!
Today's word comes from the last bit of Milo's conversation with King Azaz's cabinet. They are pleased to tell Milo that their job is to see that all the words sold in the Word Market are "proper ones", for "it wouldn't do to sell someone a word that had no meaning or didn't exist at all."
"But we never choose which ones to use," explained the earl as they walked toward the market stalls, "for as long as they mean what they mean to mean we don't care if they make sense or nonsense."
"Innoncence or magnificence," added the count.
"Reticence or common sense," said the undersecretary.
"That seems simple enough," said Milo, trying to be polite.
"Easy as falling off a log," cried the earl, falling off a log with a loud thump.
So MIlo will continue on, first to the Word Market and then to a number of curious and challenging places. He will see some very interesting things and meet some fascinating people. Doesn't that sound a lot like life in general? Of course, MIlo's personal challenge from the beginnning, has been to learn to open his eyes and take in the world around him. His journey through the Phantom Tollbooth will teach him those things. But as for you and me, all we need is a camera!
So, the final Book-word-challenge picture is taken from our woodstove- the moment a log bursts into flame- like a flash of an idea- "Oh! I should take a picture of that!"
What a wonderful series! I also love it how you say we can read the book. I believe I've said these very words before! :) What a great ending picture as well.
Brilliant log shot, and a great ending to the challenge :) I'm going to have to get hold of that book sometime soon :) Thanks for being challenge buddies again too!
@pandorasecho lol Dixie!! Thanks! @bruni Thanks Bruni- I had to go look at my own picture again- hadn't noticed that. But I don't think it's a reflection- the glass door was open, so I didn't shoot through that and the back of the stove has is made of brick , so I'm thinking it's a small flame that just happened to mimick the large flame in front- at any rate you saw before I did! Good eye! @mrssmith Thank you Carla! I would be terribly disappointed if you had not said that at least once to your students!! (o: (and if I was your student, I would have read the book!) @melorac Thank you Carole! I don't know what the next challenge will be. I will be taking a break from that for a while- it's good for my creative juices to have some freebies for extra shots. But I'm certain something will grab my attention again, and I'll be off and running with it! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- I agree, contained fire is a very good thing! @digitalrn Thanks Rick- I think I get better shots without the logs- but I needed them in the shot for the challenge! @bk12racing Thank you Mike! I've really been appreciating your comments and promise to return the favor sometime during the week by checking out your project too! @alia_801 Thanks Alia- I think I'd have liked a more exciting word to end with than log, but that's as far as the pages brought me, so it is what it is! Anyway- thank you for the challenge. I didn't know if I'd enjoy it as much as the S challenge, but I did! I'm looking forward to having a free extra shot, but also to the next challenge you dream up! I'm resisting the urge to open a third album because once I do, I know my mind will want to fill all 3 each day and Jeff says I spend way too much time on this as it is! lol Thanks again for a fun challenge! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! We love our wood stove- it's definitely warm and cozy!
