When I walk outside or gaze through my window, I see a sky overlayed with branches and leaves. Even at night they subtly whisper when a breeze waltzes through their intricate patterns. What would it have been like those many years ago when a pattern of wide open sky was not broken by trees or twigs, but by an angel of the Most High; and not with sublte breezy whispers but by proclamation and praise? Would it seem that stars had exploded and light was scattered like diamonds on sand? Would the symphony of the angelic army have been an overature which thundered like Niagra and had shaken me like a fugue by J. S. Bach? Would the joining of heaven and earth in the manger bed have been a welcome event for me? Would I ever look at the sky the same way again if such a spectacular sight had been shared with me? When I gaze at the sky today, I can't help but think what that sky must have been like on that marvelous night and think that I too would have then made haste to Bethlehem with those inquisitive shepherds to see this child whom angels praised and proclaimed.
All we can do is speculate, but unfortunately, we are human as they all were and we probably would have gone on much as we do today. I too have wondered of the beauty that must have brightened the night sky, especially of the star that led the way so the Child could be found. We can only hope that we would have responded in a more receptive and awe struck way. Merry Christmas to you and your family as we celebrate His true meaning of this day.
This collage reminds me of a patchwork quilt...and makes me think of family. That's what I think of when I think of Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thank you all and I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas day. I uploaded this shot at 2 A.M. today and although I was trying to stay awake as I typed in the comment, I did not!! So it's now edited to say what it was really supposed to say!
@alia_801 Thanks Alia- I was sort of going for a window pane effect, but I thought of that after I'd taken all the pictures with Leigh and it was dark, so they didn't match and you don't really get the feel of a window because of it. We'll just have to file this one under "Shots I Might Do Over If I Had the Inclination!"
