Well, this was way too much fun, and as you can see I actually came up with 4 different options for this album cover challenge. Yes, we definitely had fun with processing today! But I won't make you suffer by posting all 4! The random article which popped up on Wikipedia was about Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in New South Wales Australia, which sounds like a great place to visit. My random quote comes (interestingly enough) from Pablo Picasso who said, "There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all trace of reality." I don't know, I keep staring at this thinking, "It really does sound like a band and album title!" What do you think? Could I make it as a graphic artist?
Wonderful Ann and how funny that your band name is a national park about three hours from where we live. Actually my aunt lives in the area. I really like your album cover and think you did a fantastic job!
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! When I read that it was near Sydney I thought it might be something you were near. They said that it was a big tourist attraction and the photographs were actually very pretty. I don't know if I'll ever get to Australia, but I wouldn't mind going there if I did!
@olivetreeann - it is North Sydney and my aunt has lived in the area for as long as I can remember. There are some really nice houses (i.e. every expensive). Not so good during bush fire season though. We are going to Sydney next week - we are taking the girls on a plane for the first time. Paige is very excited and keeps counting down the sleeps. They are very excited.
I like your album cover! I find it peaceful, yet unnerving in a way-the colors are the peaceful part--not know wht the things are on the right side is the unnerving part-- lol You are a great graphic artist already!!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- I think! @karenann Thanks Karenann! I think I have a knack for it (at least in my mind I do). Thanks for being my best cheer leader! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi! @tklein Thanks Tina- well, this is the community pool I swim in every morning. I took the shot right after I got out of the water so that the reflection was all wobbly and blurred. Then, just to make it extra wobbly and blurry I added the "gooify" effect and some vibrance for good measure. So what you're seeing here is the reflection of the pool tiles, the dressing room doors and part of a window. The dark spot on the lower left is a shadow from the wall on the other side of the pool which gets no sunlight cast on it. So hopefully this puts your mind at ease (o: @digitalrn Thanks Rick! I do appreciate your vote of confidence!
how come I learn all challenges from you =).. I love this one.. like the choice of red letters.. and agree deeply with.. " remove all traces of reality.. " this is what I need today .. an imaginative world..
most definitely, ann. this is fantastic. as i said in my comment i have all the photographs to play with but i couldn't start with the album cover. guess i'm not that creative after all :-)
@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- this was fun, way too fun! Played around on the computer so long we had to have leftovers for dinner! Well, I made fresh biscuits! @inertie lol Inertia! I don't know! You can find them listed on the right side column on the home page as they are entered, or you can find them by pulling down the menu from the browse option at the top of the page and look under themes and competitions. This one will be listed as Album Cover Challenge 2 (I think). And it might still be running. It was a lot of fun for me because it involved truly random components and that always gets my creative juices flowing! @sangwann Thank you Dione! I really appreciate that! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! It all started with the wavy water in the pool! @summerfield Thanks Vikki- oh I think you are. But creativity is as varied as the individuals who are creative. I think scientists are very creative, but I couldn't begin to be creative in the way they think. You might not need to process your album photo at all- yours might be more suited to your particular and unique sense of humor- like the way you caught the coke truck. Or maybe you need Little Wahoo to help you with the album cover. Her series was quite creative- all the little scenarios you put her in and the stories with them. I'm just a day-dreamer who muddles around with pictures and photographic effects. You've got your own brand of creativity and that's what you should apply to the cover, not the other way around- it that makes any sense.
