In Remembrance of those who perished on this day in 2001.
beautiful shot, ann. it was a beautiful day; even in 2001, it was a beautiful day, like today. prayers for the families of those who perished on this day that they may have peace in their hearts and minds.
Thank you Kerri, Nada, Vikki, Maggie and Patty. There are many people in my community and nearby who lost loved ones this day. A good friend who worked for the Port Authority lost most of the men in his division. Time has passed for most of us, but not for those who have been left behind. I'm sure your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated by them.
Ann, thanks for posting this - I think we must do everything we can to honor the day and not let it pass from memory. Bless you for your words of honor and respect.
Very good picture. I arrived to live in NYC when the towers were newly opened, and I always enjoyed visiting it and taking tourist friends to Windows to the World. Never in anybody's weirdest nightmares would think what would happen there.
I think for those of us who grew up in their shadow, it will be harder to forget. Life may go on, but on this day in every year to come, all the memories will come back. But I do believe that even sorrowful memories can have a positive outcome. So we mourn the loss of those who died, but also look ahead in remembering all those who came to the aid of those in need that day.
A cityscape we will never see again except in our mind. So sad. Beautiful shot, Ann and a wonderful way to remember one of the most tragic days in history.
Who knew the significance of this picture so many years ago. I am so glad you were able to post it. I am so thankful to see all the comments from so many who have not forgotten Sept 11.
Lovely tribute. I have so many pics of the Twin Towers. I saw the July 4th fireworks from the top of one of them in 1994. It's something I'll never forget. The hotel I stayed in was 2 blocks away. That got damaged in the 9/11 attacks as well from the debris. I miss seeing the tall towers in the New York City skyline. It seems so odd still, even though it's been 11 years. It'll never look the same.
@zandme Thank you Tasha- around here no one forgets- so many were touched by it. Relatives, friends, co-workers, dearly loved and now gone- no one forgets having been so close to it. @prttblues I know Bev- when I see the skyline it looks so strange. That must have been awesome though to see the fireworks from there.
Thank you both.

Thank you Sally, Dione, and Carole. I actually went through all of my old shots of this view- getting sadder with each shot.
