"I always work better when I do not reason, when no question of right or wrong enters in- when my pulse quickens to the form before me, without hesitation nor calculation."
Edward Weston
The Day Books
I particularly admired Weston's "out-lining" of buildings. He used both the form and structure of the building to do that as well as the light surrounding the building. So that is what I set out to duplicate in the two shots which I took for this challenge.
Thank you Brian, Sally, Jennifer, Dione, Nicole and Rick. It really is a lovely building and was built in 1825. You've seen pictures of the bell tower and many of the stained glass windows in my project. I'd just taken a shot of the roof line in the beginning of the month for architecture week, so I had to choose a different roof part to mimic Weston's capture of "Plaster Works L.A. 1925". Although this shot doesn't have as many angles as his, it does have the geometric feel, so I was pleased enough with it to post it.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! He seemed to like angles and white outlines in his architectural shots. He also seems to have had plenty of other tall buildings to shoot from- something I do not have in Milford- but I was able to zoom for this one and the zoom didn't ruin the picture. I liked the geometric patterns here.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! I think I would have liked the sky to have a little "color" to it, but it was a pretty bright day. I think there would have been a way to adjust the camera, but I didn't have a lot of time to take the shot, so I took it as it is.
Thank you Lisa, Colleen, Kerri, and Diane!
