Notch-tipped Flower Longhorn

I'm not sure how I missed posting something on this day, but I did. So here's a shot that presented itself to me today. I was shooting the butterfly in the background when this fellow decided he wanted a piece of this Coneflower too. The two bugs shared at first, but eventually the butterfly decided to move on.
@espyetta Thought you'd enjoy seeing this Marybeth!

He is a beauty! I did not know what these were until late spring of this year. I saw them all over Queen Anne's lace. This is a great bug macro, Ann! Thanks for calling me over!

@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@espyetta Thank you Marybeth! My first thought when he landed next to the butterfly was "Marybeth is going to love this!!" I do have one shot of him on the flower with the butterfly but it's not as good as the close-up, so I gave him his own spot in the sun.

OMG... creepy creepy creepy! But good! Great detail! But still creepy! Is that the butterfly I see blurred out in the background? Nice job on this one, Ann! :)

@prttblues Thanks Bev! You had me laughing- definitely not as creepy as a close up of a fly! They're disgusting AND creepy! haha. Yes, that's the butterfly in the background. They shared the flower for a little bit and then he flew off to another.
@daisy Thanks Kathryn!

Smart move, Miss Butterfly, I would have taken off, too. :) Such pretty pink Rebecca; their downward petals give them such an attractively demure look. Great capture!

@gratefulness Thank you Sandi! Glad you like it. These plants are transplants from a friend of mine. I started out with just a couple and they are slowly filling in. They really attract the bugs so I'm enjoying the color and the photo opps!

Another lovely shot, I am hoping my cone flowers will re-emerge this year

@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole. They should- these have multiplied by just letting them go to seed. I pluck them off and save them for the Spring but my friend Debbie who is an excellent gardener told me that I can actually shake the seeds right in to the ground and let them winter in the soil. I don't know if I'll try it or not. It's really not that hard to cut off the heads once the fall is over.
