It's Sisters Day! I didn't even know there was such a thing as Sisters Day. My favorite shot of us is still in a box in the attic awaiting the return of my book shelves to the living room. So I pulled this one out of an old scrapbook. My mom loved these dresses. She took this shot at my grandparents home. I think our expressions are due to the fact the sun is in our eyes! Most of the time we did get along, but of course with 3 daughters, there had to have been some drama once in a while. Don't you must love my knee-socks?!
A very memorable picture, Ann. Must have been difficult to share things with your sisters. My mum had four boys in a row but kept on trying until she got a girl.
@eniaral lol Laraine- I don't think we knew how to sing in harmony then! @twr Thanks Timothy! You are too kind! @bulldog (o: I am thankfully endowed with two! Apparently I have posed in a very lady like stance with one foot placed in front of the other. @caroleb Thank you Carole! lol old!! It really is, isn't it?! @sangwann Thanks Dione! Being the oldest I didn't really have much to share with them- most of my stuff they had to wait to grow in to! @digitalrn Thank you Rick- well, you can honor your sister on any day I think! And I know she'd probably be pleased. @sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry!
@jplovescotton Thanks Janice! I'm so glad you saw this and left a comment. I've been thinking about you lately and how I need to get your expertise on blogging. I know I've got your email so I'll try to get to it asap. I've got a busy week, but I think I can at least tell you what I'm thinking. Thanks so much for offering to help!
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! Haha- I think my mom just loved doing this but I do have to say, once I started wanting to dress in my own style, she never made me match my sisters.
Oh, I love this! Great old photo. Like the dresses. Did your mom make them? I was telling my granddaughter how my mother was sewing up a storm this time of year, making my school dresses. She couldn't believe I went to school in homemade clothes....
@eudora Thanks Diane! My mother did make us a lot of dresses but she didn't make these. I think this was probably one of the last times we were dressed this way- I was heading into those pre-teen, Jr. High School days when I truly wanted to dress my own way- not like my sisters. But I didn't mind it when I was younger- and to be honest with you, I think I still sort of stuck with my mother's style, but just in different dresses than my sisters.
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian!
