Sometimes... by olivetreeann

Sometimes...

I get really frustrated with this camera!! I was driving home today and as I descended the hill by our community ski slope, an approaching car flashed its headlights. "Uh oh" I thought, "Maybe there's an accident at the bottom of the hill"; but no sign of trouble there. As I rounded the curve by the tennis courts I saw another car stopped in the road and a young boy hanging out the back window, camera in hand. Glancing to the side, and into a cluster of trees, I saw what everyone was so excited about- a Mama bear and two babies. I quickly dug out my camera and momentarily debated on whether to get out of the car or not (for 365 you know!), but I'd just spent the day cleaning for Judy and I could tell my knees were way to swollen for me to move quickly enough should Mama become upset- although she was visibly limping herself. I thought maybe I'd be able to pull off at least one good shot, but as usual my zoom failed me. This camera loves macros, handles scenery in a decent way, and will even capture nice people shots if they sit still, but it hates to co operate when I want to use the zoom. Sigh...
I know that feeling about not capturing the shot you want. Hey se can still see what you were seeing

Exciting! I never seem to have my camera handy when I come across something like this.

Well, you could say it's artistic licence, and Mama bear did not want her or her babies to be too clearly visible. Works well as a trio of photos though... and at least you actually saw her with your own eyes!

even it is blur, it does not stop me getting excited.
October 22nd, 2013
Wow, but you still caught glimpse of them.

The blur gives the shots a great sense of movement. I wouldn't have bothered with the camera settings, myself. being too excited to miss a chance like this.

Sorry your camera disappointed you - we all know what that is like. But you did capture the excitement of the moment! Looks like they were moving right along. What a thrill!

You still managed to capture an amazing scene. I didn't have my camera this evening when there were three kangaroos hopping down my street!

Nice try and I get the 'picture' .... LOL! But I really like how you "did up" this collage to emphasize the movement. Cool and fun!

Yeah!!!!I have not seen one since early summer. How exciting!!

Oh, how exciting. Been there, tried to do that. I have only seen a bear twice. The first time, I missed him completely. The second time, I got a little bit of his rear in the picture. Nice collage. At least you have proof of your sighting.

Has anyone told you how nice you are lately? I think the 365 family is so great! I had to smile from all those kind words. And yes, the blur does capture the excitement although not really how slow she was hobbling along! Thanks again for the support- it really makes a gal feel good!!!

Still, you got to see a mama bear and her cubs!!! Wow!!!
October 23rd, 2013
@taffy True- it was worth the excitement even if the pictures don't do the experience justice.

Bev
What a sight, Ann! I don't think even my camera would have caught them because I have no clue how to capture moving things like animals. Planes are different for some reason... I love the collage. I am so glad that you got to see them! What a treat! Well done :)

@prttblues Thanks Bev! If you see a moving animal treat it just the same as a moving plane. At least in my mind I think that would work!
