Fire Falls by olivetreeann

Fire Falls

Our arctic weather continues here in the Northeast, but our little home is nice and warm thanks to our trusty wood stove. One of its features is a glass window so that you can watch the fire burning (just like you would in a fire place). I noticed the flames wrapping around a log today in a really interesting way, so I took a shot and flipped it. It looks like a waterfall to me. What do you think?
Awesome shot

Thank you Keith, Terry, Yao, Rick, Timothy, Carole, Sally, Daisy, and Alexandra! This was a such a pretty "burn" and I was out of ideas for things to shoot yesterday! As I looked at it, I thought that if I turned it upside down, it would really look like a waterfall- so that's how this shot happened.

It does look warm and my girls would be there toasting marshmallows :)

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! It might be hard to toast marshmallows in there- but we have a spot in the backyard where we burn leaves and that is perfect for marshmallow toasting! Do you folks make "s'mores" there? In the US we take a graham cracker cookie, break it in half (to make two sides like a sandwhich), break a Hershey's chocolate bar (or a facsimilie thereof) in the same way and then put a toasted marshmallow in the center. Stack it together in the fashion of a sandwhich and the marshmallow warms up the chocolate a little and boy oh boy- high on the yum factor scale! This is a particularly favorite pasttime when camping, but it works pretty much any time you want it to. Some folks, when a campfire isn't available, put the whole thing in a microwave for a few seconds- but you don't get that crunchy, toasted marshmallow taste that way, and in mho it's not as good! Sorry to ramble like that!

@olivetreeann Add bananas to the s'mores and you have a s'moregasm. Delicious. ;-)

Waterfall of fire, I like this :-)
February 11th, 2014
Warm I like the way the fire seems to be flowing like lava over the log : )

@vposey Thanks Vickie! Yes, that was the play on words in the title. Instead of a waterfall, it's a firefall.
@potsbypam Thanks Pam! I had fun with this shot in that it's actually upside down!
