It's back to the Coneflower again for today's One Night Stand shot. Leigh and I were packing the car when I spotted this fellow grabbing his morning snack. I don't have the "bug book" available to find out what kind he officially is, but I'm pleased with the clarity of this macro shot. Check off another item on the One Night Stand list!
My thanks to all who've fav'd and commented on my recent shots. I'm enjoying the time with my grandchildren and looking forward to a 365 meet-up on Saturday! Maybe tomorrow evening I'll find a few moments to check in on you, but until I do, your patience is very much appreciated!
Nice shot, Ann. Very crisp and clear. It's definitely yellow and black so possibly yellow jacket or hornet? I did find out my Hummingbird Bee wasn't a bee at all but a Hummingbird Hawk-Moth so I had nothing to be worried about in terms of being stung! Now I will search for it on purpose! Very nice shot this. Love the colors.
Such neat detail of his little wings. Small, but mighty! :) I like this as much as the grasshopper shot! I enjoy shots of grasshoppers, bees, dragonflies and butterflies, but otherwise I'm not much one for insect shots. Just my phobia with insects. But your two shots are so nice, and I really like them!
Thank you so much for all your comments and favs! I am finally catching up with them and just want you to know how much I appreciate each one!
@prttblues That's what I thought it was Bev- I'd never heard of a Hummingbird Bee- but I did see the Hummingbird Moth a long time ago (when we still lived in NJ) and was amazed at how much it looked like the bird! I'm not absolutely certain but this is probably a Yellow Jacket. It doesn't look like the Bumblebees that are usually on these flowers, but I can't quite tell what the pattern looks like on his abdomen so I'm just taking a guess.
