Resiliance by olivetreeann

Resiliance

I do not have the typical front yard of grass like most people do. My yard is covered in decorative stone. While I would prefer to have a patch of green lined with pretty gardens and flowering trees and shrubs, my husband is quite happy that we do not! A stone yard requires no weeding, no mowing and basically no up-keep whatsoever. All he needs to do on a bi-yearly basis is take out the weed-killer and spray a few dandelions and other plants that manage to sprout up amongst the stone. The ones that amaze me the most though are the plants which manage to grow in spite of being hemmed in by the foundation. Once in a while I convince Jeff to hold off spraying them so that I can try to transplant them in my meager little gardens. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. But then, the following Spring, that plant is back again; bursting through the stony cover and proudly pushing its way sunward. Some say resilience is the ability to bounce back from a devastating blow. I say it's a plant that knows how to bloom where it's planted.
Just think how much time you save with an easy yard. I much prefer to wander around parks, creeks & ponds then to tend my own yard.

Beautiful plant. We have decorative rocks in our flower beds too.

We have some like this too! One comes through a wooden fence from our neighbours but then one of ours is probably coming up in her place! This is a raspberry plant that is really growing like a weed!

I haven't had a typical grass lawn in either house I've lived in for the past 40 years, front or back! I love the determination of this little guy.

Wow! I cannot believe it comes back every year after being sprayed. I wonder what kind of plant it is. It has great shape. It looks like some kind of lily.
