Artist: Vespro della Beata Vergine (Vespers for the Blessed Virgin) is a collection of pieces written by Claudio Monteverdi for the evening vespers of the Marian feasts. It was first printed in 1610. Written when the composer served as Maestro di capella in Mantua, the work includes solo concertos in an operatic style as well as traditional Gregorian chants. Monteverdi's vespers represent a milestone in music history at the transition of eras from Renaissance to Baroque.
Title taken from a quote by American author William Saroyan (8/31/1908-5/18/1981) who is most noted for his novel The Human Comedy and other works dealing with the comedies and tragedies of everyday existence.
"The role of art is to make a world which can be inhabited."
Thank you Amy, Lou Ann, Milanie, Harry, Gloria, Rob, Elena, Dorre, Phyl, Diana, Katy, Marilyn, Louise, Nina, Issi, Jenn, Kathy and Helen!
It took me a few days to finally land on a concept that I thought worked for this quote- taking the usual route with the last three words just wasn't working for me! I generally try to stay away from the haunted house type stuff but it seemed to be the way to go with this word- either that or some weird planet in outer space. Thanks for all the views, comments and favs!
@louannwarren I have a different quote in mind for that from my favorite book.
