Our photo club returned to Bill's Old Bike Barn and Museum yesterday and it was just as much fun to wander around and take photographs of all the items on display which ranged from Avon collectibles to antique fire engines and Harley Motorcycles! Las year I could not climb the stairs to the upper floor but this year I could thanks to my new knees! I really liked the perspective of looking down the fireman's pole in the "firehouse" although it did give me butterflies in my stomach!
At one point in my life I would have enjoyed sliding down that pole. Brings back memories of the playground in elementary school. There was a concrete ramp built with round spaces below to crawl through and two poles to slide down on either side at the top of the ramp. Probably isn't safe to have it now. Can't remember if it was there the last time I strolled through the school yard.
Thanks much to each and every one of you! Don't worry about me sliding down the pole or falling through the hole- that railing you see on the sides went around 3 sides and attached to a wall in back. It was too high to step over- which I did NOT want to do anyway! Just as Babs @onewing noted- it would have been a very rough landing with that equipment in the way even if it was possible to take a ride down it.
@randystreat I have seen some playgrounds with them but they are not too tall and the ground is covered with soft rubber pellets so the kids have a gentle landing- even when they jump.
