Runner-up for the November word "metal". This cross was given to me by a "secret sister" years ago- probably the best secret sister I ever had. She nailed every little gift! She has since "gone home" where I'm sure she is now singing in a heavenly choir as that was one of her favorite things to do while on this earth. And I have this beautiful reminder of her.
Many thanks for your support for my project! You are as special as this gift in my opinion!
@maggiemae Secret Sisters- or sometimes Secret Santas if the "game" men are participating too- begins with participants registering to play. They fill out a form with likes and dislikes, things such as favorite color, favorite snack, and in the case of food if they're allergic to anything, birthday, anniversary if married, and so on. Once they've registered someone matches up the names and informs the participants who they will be a secret sister to. The women's group I did it with ran the program all year long with a Christmas gathering where everyone revealed who they were a Secret Sister to throughout the year. Some groups only do it at Christmas. Gifts are only to be with a low price range- except for the reveal gift- that can be fancier if you so choose. Gifts can be things like tea, fancy soaps, a small gift card for a coffee shop, pens, stationary items like "sticky notes", mints, fun stuff but nothing that breaks the bank. Marilyn gave me four or five gifts (it's been a while) but each was something like this. I gave my secret sister (it was a different lady) something each month- but it was nothing pricey, such as sun tan lotion in July since it's summer here then. Along with or by itself you can also write notes of encouragement, birthday or anniversary greetings and so on. There is usually a place set up in the church where secret sisters can drop things off without being seen and it's up to the participants to check and see if something has been left for them. One person oversees it all and doesn't get a secret sister, but one year I decided to assign myself that person too- it was fun to see her surprise when gifts would show up and she knew she hadn't assigned anyone to herself. So that's how it works, and how you get one.
We used to have a week of " secret admirer" at a school I worked in. A week of surprises, sometimes delivered by a pupil! Raised morale snd gave us a laugh
