Band: U. S. Highway #8...is a part of the interstate highway system in the United States and runs east to west for 280 miles in Wisconsin in order to connect Michigan to Minnesota. Except for a few freeway segments, it's mostly a 2 lane, undivided surface road.
Album title taken from this quote by the soccer great Pele: Every kid around the world who plays soccer wants to be Pele. I have a great responsibility to show them not just how to be a soccer player, but how to be like a man.
The world lost one of its brightest soccer stars this week when Edson Avantes do Nescimento passed away at the age of 82. Better known on the soccer field as Pele (due to his mispronunciation of another soccer player's [Bile] name), his stellar career began at the age of 15 when he was picked up by the club Santos for development. A mere two years later he set the soccer world on fire, appearing in his first world cup at the age of 17. Pele earned the title, "The Greatest Player of All Time" by averaging one goal per game over the many years he played. He led Team Brazil to the World Cup championship as #10 in the forward spot in 1958, 1962, and 1970. 1999 the International Olympic Committee named him "The Greatest Athlete of the Century". Today, only 2 other soccer greats can stand beside him- Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona- but both name him as the inspiration for their own stellar careers.
On a personal note- Pele came to the U.S. to play for the NY Cosmos from 1975 to 1977. I never saw him play, but my father and sister did. One of his teammates was a German player named Heinz Consten. A decade and a half later, my son Christopher was trained by Heinz who by then had bought property in Sussex County NJ where we lived and built a complex to teach young boys and girls the art of "the beautiful game". Heinz didn't talk much about his days on the Cosmos, but when he talked about Pele, he always said he had a great amount of respect for him.
So here's my take on the challenge this time- I'm thinking classic country for this one!
