This shot was an attempt at split toning in-camera. The camera (camera phone) did seem to focus in on red, but I felt the end result looked more like selective coloring than split toning. So, since I liked the randomness of this candid street shot, I decided to post it here with a little sepia thrown on top for good measure.
@maggiemae My cell phone camera has a setting called SC2 which supposedly lets you select an overall color for your picture (SC1 is the traditional form of selective coloring). Split toning is taking your color image, converting it to black and white, and then layering a color back on top of the image (like tinting it). I thought that if I selected this effect in my camera phone and then designated red as the "tone", it would give me an image that looked mostly black and white with a red tint to it. But this image looks more like a black and white that had the red areas erased so that they would show through rather than having a red tint. I hope that makes sense!
@kjarn@prettycheeses Thank you Kathy and Laur! It's an Italian word for friend, but more specifically, a longtime family-friend. It is most often used for a family-friend who is a male, because the word is in the masculine form.
