Ranger Mick and Rosie by onewing

Ranger Mick and Rosie

Friday people photo day and, of course, I had to include a photo from our trip to the Reptile Park again as my people shot for this week.

This is Ranger Mick who gave an excellent talk about some of the animals they have at Somersby. Here he is with his alligator friend Rosie.

If you think this is scary, he had just given a talk about a black headed python and when he had finished, he undid his shirt and the python slithered inside and wrapped itself round Mick’s middle to keep warm. He is still there in this photo but you can’t see it. Rather him than me.

Next Friday I will post another picture of Mick giving a kiss to a lace monitor lizard and that photo shows the python inside his shirt. Do you think you will be ready for that. ha ha.
Wonderful portrait, even though it is kind of giving me the creeps! Fav.

July 18th, 2014

Kat
Awesome shot. The alligator looks like she's just casually posing there. Guess he'll stop giving shoulder rides when they get a bit older. ;)
July 18th, 2014
I'm loving these reptile park photos, they bring back so many memories! This is a wonderful photo and I remember seeing Mick numerous times during his shows! If you ever get to talk to him personally he is really funny and a real wag! :)
July 18th, 2014

July 18th, 2014
Superb. Fav.
July 18th, 2014
Really neat photo but the lizard looks a little board.
July 18th, 2014
Oh heavens! Brave Mick! Great capture, Babs.
July 18th, 2014
@jackie8 Thanks Jackie for the fav. It was a bit difficult to get a decent shot of them because of the light and also he was in an arena with lots of kids around him too.

@julzmaioro Thanks Julia. He is very brave isn't he.

@hermann @sioux Thanks. I think Rosie has done this so many times she probably is getting a bit bored. She has probably got her eye on some of the kids scattered around the arena too.

@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel. It wasn't easy getting this shot as there were lots of kids around. It was the last day of the school holidays.

@goosemanning Hello Sharon. I thought I was following you, but for some reason you disappeared from my follow list. That has happened before. Must get you back.
I think Mick is a bit of both. Rather him than me. Love his sense of humour.
July 19th, 2014
@lpot1985 Thanks Lee for the fav. Next Friday I will post another shot of Mick with a lace monitor lizard.
July 19th, 2014
@gigiflower Thanks Sam, but Rosie is an alligator. I think she and Mick are great friends. How long the relationship will last I'm not sure as she sure is going to grow.
July 19th, 2014
@cathy366 Thanks Cathy for the fav. We had a really good day at the reptile park. Must go again soon.
July 19th, 2014
@darthkitty Know what you mean Kat. Don't think Mick will be doing this stunt when Rosie is fully grown.
July 19th, 2014
@lilminimonka I agree Brianna. He is a character and I just love his sense of humour. Very un PC but he can get away with it. Who is going to argue with him when he has such great friends.
July 19th, 2014
@pittcj17 Thanks. It was a really fun day.
July 19th, 2014
@onlyme111 Thanks Gaylene. they look like great friends don't they.
July 19th, 2014
@seattlite Thanks Gloria. I think Mick and Rosie have been friends since she was born.
July 19th, 2014
@bristol_colin Thanks colin. I wonder how many injuries Mick has had.
July 19th, 2014
@happypat Thanks Pat. Know what you mean. You know what they say owners look like their pets. Mick has been at the reptile park for about 18 years I believe and he has raised Rosie since she was born I believe.
July 19th, 2014
@pcoulson ha ha. Thanks Peter. I just save up my people photos for Friday's posting. Wouldn't it be good that I should come across a man holding an alligator or a lace monitor every Friday.
July 19th, 2014
@loweygrace Thanks Lois. Maybe Rosie was thinking 'lunch'.
July 19th, 2014
@swagman Thanks Julia. @snoopybooboo Thanks for the fav Tony. I had trouble getting this shot as it was the last day of school holidays and there were lots of kids there. Must go again in term time.
July 19th, 2014
@nanm Thanks Nancy. Rosie is an American alligator.
July 19th, 2014
@kwiksilver Thanks Gillian. Not sure I would call him brave. He must have a certain madness too. He was such an entertaining chap.
July 19th, 2014
OMG what an awesome photo, an instant fav Babs.
July 19th, 2014
Wonderful image Babs, but better him than me with those reptiles. Fav.
July 19th, 2014
Fav! Terrific portrait of man and gator!
July 19th, 2014
@wanabe Thanks for the fav Meredith. He is much braver than me. I have held a couple of snakes, a baby croc, a wombat, a koala but I draw the line at an alligator this size
July 19th, 2014
alligator friend? are they in the same page! Love the expression of the alligator.
July 19th, 2014
Good capture.
July 19th, 2014

July 19th, 2014
Great shot Babs
July 19th, 2014
Oh Babs! How did I miss this ? I love ranger Mick and Rose is gorgeous. When I was at the park last time I was chatting to him about the python and he gave Me some tips about our snakes. He is a great bloke to have a chat to. This is a brilliant photo!!
July 20th, 2014
@annied Thanks Annie, I agree he is so interesting. They python by the way is inside his shirt in this photo. I will post that photo next Friday. Watch this space. ha ha.
You can imagine how difficult it was to get this picture with all the people around the arena and of course, he doesn't stand still for long.
July 20th, 2014
@onewing I am yet to get a photo as fab as this Babs. It is superb. The black-headed python is a beauty too
July 20th, 2014
Fabulous capture
July 20th, 2014
No! You can keep the snakes thank you!
July 20th, 2014
Reading the description just gave me the shudders. As to the alligator I thought omg but then when I thought about it I went out with someone who had pet Caiman, South American alligator, and I have stroked a baby but then again nowhere near as big as this.
July 20th, 2014
Yikes! Great shot though.
July 20th, 2014
OH MY OH DEAR! Fab shot Babs.....but...ewwwww!!!
