It has been a miserably wet day today and we have been in Newcastle all day.
I think this photo of David with my umbrella reflected in a puddle sums up the day.
We did call in at one of the shopping centres though on the way home and I felt a couple of birthdays coming on. ha ha. In fact we both had an impromptu birthday today. Nothing like a bit of retail therapy to cheer up a wet and rainy day.
Nice to be home and cosy and warm with our wood burner fire lit.
@pusspup Thanks for the fav. I tried it without his feet, but decided to leave them in as it showed just how soggy his shoes were and it emphasized the wetness of the day.
Fab shot , you definitely need the feet there otherwise it just looks like an upside down photo !!! and the shot would have a much different and weaker meaning !! Very clever Babs - fav
Good eye Babs, his shoes look soaked through! Hope you are well, I'm just dropping by fleetingly to have a nose at what's going on. I do reminisce about 365, may come back next year under a new name and start again! That first year is such fun.
@jackie8 Hi Jackie, lovely to hear from you. Hope all is going well. Do come back, I miss your photos and the contribution you make to 365. I am planning on staying around as long as I can find interesting photos.
@neatz@gigiflower@newbank@pixiemac@bulldog Thanks so much. It is still raining. The unbrella is from Amcal chemist Sam. Very handy for rainy day photography. It helps to keep the camera dry
It may not have been a great day re weather, but this shot celebrates it more than makes it look like a problem. I like the reflection a lot and the subtle rainbow-like colors that you've created this way.
Oh, I like this so much! The reflected colors of the umbrella and the little fragments of color! I like the person's feet in the picture, the toes of his shoes are so wet (Yikes! A rainy day!). This is amazing!
Well I seem to have totally missed this great shot too Babs! Congrats on the TT appearance and a belated fav to add to the list! Have a lovely weekend.
Congrats on #2 on TT. So awesome!!! We are camping for a few days andvhavr limited power and service...was just checking messages and got a congrats also. Was so excited to see yours!!!๐๐
So much joy can be had by capturing an image that makes us...the photographer, go...wow, I did that...and often that's all we need...but then there are times when we get public approval, we don't really need it, but damn it feels good... this is a superb shot... For me it's sort of has a ying yang effect, first there's the rain which brings on a melancholy kind of feeling... And then there are the bright colors that bring joy...i'm giving you a standing ovation.
@photohoot Wow, Wendy what a fabulous comment, thank you so much. This was such a quick shot and I am surprised that it came out so well with such a fantastic response too.
I just said to my husband as we were getting soaked in the rain. Stand there with my umbrella. Snap that was it and I didn't know what I had got until we arrived home.
We were at a market in Newcastle and it was a bit of a wash out because of the weather so I spent my time taking photos while David looked at the stalls. When I met up with him again this was one of those spur of the moment shots and I said "Here you go hold my umbrella and stand there" (He works well under instruction) ha ha. and this was the result. I just loved too how wet his shoes were, it just added to the shot. I keep telling him that he is too old to be jumping in puddles.
