Thanks so much to everyone for your kind words on yesterday's photo, I will get back to you when I can, but I have been out all day again today.
Grocery shopping this morning and then out for lunch with friends and out in Maitland this afternoon, just got home and I am in need of a cup of tea.
Here we are with another flower photo. This will probably be it for the year now I suppose because I don't take photos of flowers very often at all.
When I saw this one though it looks so beautiful in the sunlight. It has been a fabulously sunny day today.
It wasn't until I saw this on the computer that I noticed the ladybird on the flower and it made me smile. Reminded me of Zoe. She loved ladybirds and even had pyjamas and slippers with ladybird designs on them, so it seemed significant to post this photo today.
No idea what the flower is though. As I say I am not really a flower person, maybe somebody can enlighten me.
What an absolutely stunning flower - gorgeous colour. I love that little ladybird. It's always such a bonus when you see something on the computer that you didn't know was there when you took the photo.
I have no idea Babs, maybe part of the Cannon or lily family. Gorgeous none the less. And how lovely that the lady bird was on there. Maybe Zoe is letting you know she is close by.
Gorgeous, a real beauty, love the ladybird....I looked up my little book & Per Ian Cooke's book on cannas, a.k.a. 'Florence Vaughan,' with "large, frilled, orchid-shaped flowers in lemon-yellow marked with orange-blotching and spotting."
@susiemc Yes Sue the ladybird was a bonus. Didn't see it in the bright sunlight of today. Hot too, reached 30 degrees C this afternoon. Just that bit warmer when we go slightly inland for the day.
@thistle@quietpurplehaze@dianeburns@shirleybankfarm@saulgoode@gamelee Thank you all and also great that it has been identified as a 'Florence Vaughan' Canna Lily. I told you I wasn't really a flower person.
The ladybird was a real bonus too. It was such bright sunlight today that I didn't see the ladybird until I saw the photo on the computer. Just for Zoe I think.
It's a Canna Babs & a very colourful one too. I have some in pots but they hardly ever flower as we don't have enough strong sunlight. By the time they are ready to flower the cold weather arrives & they give up & hide.
Gorgeous colour. Love the ladybird. Whenever I take this type of macro shot I discover some form of bug on it but they tend to be on the ugly unpleasant side whilst you have got something that enhances.
That little ladybird certainly camouflages well on the pretty flower. We used to have some lovely Canna plants but lost them all a few years back when we had a particularly cold winter.
Beautiful flower Babs and pleased you found out what it is. I agree that the Ladybird is maybe a sign from Zoe that all is well, she's looking out for you.
The ladybird was a real bonus too. It was such bright sunlight today that I didn't see the ladybird until I saw the photo on the computer. Just for Zoe I think.
