Street Art - Grizzle by onewing

Street Art - Grizzle

I have been meaning to take a photo of this piece of street art for ages, but every time I have been to Newcastle I haven't had time to stop. I am so pleased that I have finally achieved it.

Today and tomorrow I will be posting street art by this particular street artist who goes by the name of Grizzle, aka Gerard Brown. Grizzle is an Australian artist based in Newcastle who is known for his unique street art and clothing range.

Quite a few of Grizzle's artworks appear around Newcastle and I have photographed several of his artworks work previously and posted them on 365.

This street art was commissioned for the Hit the Bricks Festival in 2014. Tomorrow's photo will be of the same building but around the corner.

It was a bit difficult to capture this side of the building because I was shooting straight into the sun.
Nice post. I love the good kind of street art.

Wow. Some of these street artists are so talented Babs. At least this one has a clothing range as well to supplement his income!

FAV Babs. Where did you find this one hiding out. Great shot.

Neat artwork and you achieved a great image in trying light conditions.

@susiangelgirl Thanks Susi. It is on the corner of Branch Street and Albert Street at Wickham. If you follow the streets round on to Foundry Street and Greenway Street there is a lot of street art around there too. I've taken photos of the ones on Foundry Street previously, but this one was done for the Hit the Bricks Festival.

Neat shot.. lucky for you that no cars were parked in the way..

@thistle Thanks Joyce, most of the street art that I take photos of in Newcastle has been commissioned and the artists are usually reputable graphic artists or the like, so they do have 'proper jobs' ha ha

Great capture of that street art. Always difficult when it's so bright and sun at wrong angle. What do you think about just slight crop to take out that car?
May 16th, 2016
Very quirky and imaginative street art :)
May 16th, 2016
@jennywren Thanks Jen. Yes I did crop it to take out the car initially, but it looked a bit flat and didn't really emphasise the size of the artwork, so I decided to leave the car in. Thanks for the suggestion though it always helps to see other options.

@onewing just a thought, always not sure whether to comment like that. Yes sometimes a crop just doesn't work.
May 16th, 2016
@jennywren No worries Jen. I always appreciate suggestions.

@golftragic I agree Marnie, it does have a Dr Zeuss feel to it. I wonder if that is what influenced him.
