This old car was on display at the Heritage Festival on Saturday. The chap who owned it loved that it was rusty and it has character he said.
It was built in 1924 but I can't for the life of me remember the make of the car.
I am posting a bit early again today and apologies for not being able to catch up on 365 at the moment. So busy yesterday and today.
I have just got home from my regular 'girlie lunch' with some friends and David and I are out this evening too, so won't be able to catch up much at the moment.
This is absolutely wonderful Babs , love all the nick-knacks strewn around this stunning old car -- puts a smile on ones face -- especially the gazunder, which is so white and spotlessly clean !! With the straw hats and all the other paraphernalia it looks as if they are going for a few days hols !!Amazing how such an image creates and kindles ones imagination !!
Great image full of lovely tones, textures and interesting add on items, another just right for restoration, looking at the body style, wheels and radiator shape its a Ford Model T Tourer, but the again could be wrong:)
@pcoulson Pretty sure its a Willys Overland. If it is and at 1924 model, it is the same as the first "car" I ever owned - as a 16 year old. It had exactly the same radiator cap and all. I paid £5 for it and my brother and I towed it home from someone's farm and deposited it in the back yard - much to Mum's disgust. We could never get it working and it sat there for ages until mum had a melt down one day and told us to get rid of it. So we towed it out to the tip and that was that. Bought a 1924 Dodge Tourer not long after - cost me £10 but at least it went. Never got it registered though.
@terryliv Thanks Terry, you are right. I just couldn't remember what the chap who owned it said it was called, I just remember it was a 1924 model though. (seniors moment) Fancy you having one the same, I bet it brought back memories. I didn't think you were that old, ha ha
@terryliv Thanks Terry for putting the record straight, to be honest I've never heard of a Willys Overlander, interesting story sounds like the sort thing I would have done in my youth with my brother:)
A fair bit of added character here. Certainly raised a smile. ( Pitty you couldn't have got closer and picked up some shots for the macro challenge - rust!)
@beryl Thanks Beryl. I loved all the knick knacks too, especially the gazunder. My Nanna had a gazunder just like this one in her little cottage in Yorkshire.
@helenhall Thanks Helen. I don't think the owner of this car wanted anyone getting too close to his prize possession. Besides I haven't much free time at the moment to check out the challenges. I see them occasionally, but no time to take the photos required.
@onewing Yes I understand the predicament - I just look to see in case I need some inspiration on duller days. And it helps to stretch my mind a bit beyond what is obvious to me. Anyway, for sure this vehicle needs to be seen in its entirety!
@helenhall Ha ha, I look too and think 'that would be nice to take part in' when I see challenges that would be of interest to me. Unfortunately, I need more time. I never realized that being retired could be so hectic. Don't know where I ever found time to go to work.
@golftragic Thanks Marnie Poppo had the answer to the car. It is a Willys Overland, he had one when he was 16 years old, back when Noah was a lad. @terryliv Sorry Terry couldn't help myself. ha ha,.
The only car I can recognise is a Subaru Forester because both David and I have Foresters. Not good at identifying cars.
I wouldn't be able to tell them apart.
