Lone Pine Bushfire by onewing

Lone Pine Bushfire

We have been in Newcastle all day today and on returning home we saw three bushfires in our area.

We went up to the Gan Gan lookout on our way home and this is the sight that met us.

This bushfire close to Karuah is presently out of control and people in the area are being evacuated.
Sends a chill through me. We are no strangers to bush fires here in Victoria.

Amazing capture with those awful blanket of smoke cloud hovering in the far sky , Such a terribly worrying times I hope the fires will be controlled without too much damage to land wildlife and humans . I can see a pair of menacing eyes I the smoke just above the horizon to the left -- making for a very disturbing scene ! (or is my imagination working overtime !! )

@ethelperry @julzmaioro @pixiemac @golftragic @salza @jackie8 @thistle @365projectorgjenfurj @julienne1 @olenadole @hermann @pcoulson @kjarn @jodies @cruiser @inthecloud5 @bkbinthecity @seattlite @cmp @craftymeg @loweygrace @jerome @moonmtn @mittens @888rachel @joemuli @kwind @happysnaps Thanks everyone. This is one of three fires in our area and the Hunter Valley. This one is still not under control, but eased today. It is still very smoky, but the sky is blue again this afternoon so the wind must have changed in the last few hours. I believe this fire has burnt out over 6500 hectares of bush so far. It has been 30 degrees C today which hasn't helped I am sure. So many bushfires burning across New South Wales at the moment and it isn't even summer yet.

@beryl Yes I can see the eyes Beryl, scary.
November 7th, 2016
@quietpurplehaze Still pretty hazy this morning, but the smoke has eased now. 30 degrees c here today.

An amazing scene, but a worrying event. I hope everyone is keeping safe.

So scary, it's very early for bush fires isn't it Babs? So much smoke & terrible to have to,leave your homes. Great photo.
November 7th, 2016
I hope the fires are under control soon and that no one was hurt - did they they have to evacuate people? That is a lot of smoke, and so sad to read of so much fire damage to the land.
November 8th, 2016
@fishers @happypat Still burning but under control now. Weather gone cooler today so easier to manage
November 8th, 2016
@stephanies The fire is under control now and yes they did have to evacuate. It was moving towards Karuah but changed direction and moved towards Medowie. It has gone cooler today so much easier for the fieries to cope

@pamdavis2015 Not so beautiful for the people living there, this is a bushfire in the distance that has burnt out so far over 8000 hectares of land.

Thought our one here was bad enough. It made the Uk national news. They are certainly very frightening. Good shot though Babs. I couldn't get anywhere to get a shot of ours.
