Another very quick post this evening as I am trying to fill the spaces because we have been in Canberra for three days.
I am also trying to catch up with the Nadal vs Federer tennis final on the television too.
As you can see this is me just before we entered the Versailles - Treasures from the Palace exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra on Saturday.
What an interesting backdrop Babs, you would never get this shot in Versailles its never been free of tourists, well not when I've been there (as a tourist), lol:)
What a fabulous mirror reflection behind you. Oh the opulence and the splendour, quite beautiful to see and wonder and dream about. Lovely shot of you too Babs, you have a great smile!
We saw the real Versailles near Paris. It makes one understand the reason for the revolution when confronted by such OTT opulence v extreme poverty. Splendid all the same!
@pcoulson I am sure you are right Peter. It was a bit of a squeeze getting this photo in front of the backdrop and we were just at the National Gallery. Good job we were allowed in early because we were in a group. The actual exhibition doesn't open till 10 am but we were allowed in at 9 am before the masses arrived.
I think David did well to capture this shot with only just one person's backpack in the picture.
@golftragic No wonder they had a revolution. I shudder to think of the money spent on the items at the exhibition. Yes I caught the tennis wasn't it brilliant.
@onewing The tennis was spellbinding. Sat up in bed and watched it, but the fourth set my eyes kept drooping but I found a couple of match-sticks so I could watch the whole thing. One of, if not the best matches I've watched forever. As for the exhibition, completely agree. Can't say the same about the womens' final though. What a yawn.
Hello! What a cool back-drop. Of course I recognized it as Versailles but wondered how you managed to be in two places at one time! Haha. Glad you enjoyed your visit and the tennis match!
The exhibition doesn't open till 10 am, but because we were in a group we were allowed in at 9 am before it was opened to the masses, ha ha.
