I am posting a bit early today because we have got friends coming for dinner this evening.
This is the last photo of my walking tour around Newcastle hope you have enjoyed it.
In yesterday's photo you saw us at the Clarendon Hotel having lunch. After leaving the Clarendon we walked back along the waterfront to the wharf where we caught the ferry back to Stockton.
At the wharf we were lucky enough to see this Bulk Carrier being escorted out of Newcastle Harbour, to the open sea, by three tug boats.
Gosh, that is ginormous and the tugs are so tiny in comparison. Wandering around on that would be like negotiating a large convoluted village.. imagine the amount of fuel it gets through.. my ghast is flabbered..
good shot Babs..
Funny you should say that, we have an appointment with a guy today to look at putting shutters into our downstairs living areas where we presently have curtains! Hope you have had a lovely evening with your dinner guests. Nice shot. I always enjoy water traffic.
Massive isn't it? We have a Freeport at Marsaxlokk where huge bulk carriers unload their cargo (containers mostly) and smaller vessels load them again for distribution to other ports around Europe.
Those tankers are amazing- great shot! I like seeing it with the tugs. It seems so odd that something so powerful has to be guided out of the harbor- but they do!
@jorlam I love watching the ships being escorted from the harbour. The tug boats and the marine pilot steering the ships do a fabulous job of getting the ships in and out of Newcastle safely.
There is also a dredger that operates on a daily basis to keep the seabed deep enough for ships to travel in and out of port.
I love watching the ships in Newcastle, the traffic is constant as each ship is loaded with either containers or coal. This ship I believe is on its way to South Korea with a cargo of coal.

We had a fabulous evening with friends. Always nice to have friends round and share a meal, a chat and a few bottles of wine with them.
