While I was eating my lunch today I spotted this koala wandering through our garden. It is the first time I have spotted one actually in the garden, so it was quite a surprise.
By the time I got my camera he had climbed one of our trees.
It is quite windy today and he managed to climb pretty high. He looked rather precarious as he hung on to the rather spindly branches at the top of our very tall trees.
He is only a youngster, so maybe it is his first time out alone.
He has wandered off now so hope he manages to stay safe.
How wonderful and exciting to spot this new visitor to the garden -- he looks such a sweet and healthy little lad . . It would be nice to see him again !
Gosh, how fortunate you are to have such delightful visitors.. all i get are the local stray cats.. i actually like that it is up in the branches, it seems very natural - i suppose this is how i 'see' them.. loving the detail of the fur..
Such a strange thing to imagine -a koala in the garden. he just looks like a big koala teddy bear to me. I love how we get a glimpse of other peoples lives through the photos they are able to take. Thanks for the smile.
@jorlam Thanks Jorlam. I was thrilled to spot him. Luckily he was walking across the lawn when I first saw him. Once they are up in the trees they are very difficult to find because they blend in so well.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. I was so pleased to see him. You could pay good money to see them in our garden any time Peter. ha ha. We have lots of wildlife here.
@casablanca Ha ha, he is cute but as you say dopey as anything. Billy Connolly used to say that koalas were the hippies of the animal kingdom because they always looked stoned.
@gigiflower He climbed quite high. This photo was taken of him in our blackbutt tree. I had quite a job to get a photo because I had to stand in amongst the port wine magnolia bush to get the angle right. Checked myself for spiders afterwards too.
