My cousin's girls, who live in Sydney, swim in a pool like this. I love seeing pictures of it. This looks amazing but not great in high surf, of course!
At a first glimpse I thought that wall was a submarine. Love that breaker coming in. The sea in our area today changed from mirror calm to a bit choppy.
@peadar The waves did come over the top of the wall on occasion. Tomorrow I will post a photo of the kiddie pool which is beside this pool. No swimming there either.
I wouldn't like to be swimming in that pool & look up to see a large wave coming over the top of that wall! Cool idea though, I think we might have something like this in the UK somewhere but not sure where.
If my eyes are not being fooled by perspective that does look like a very large wave. I like how it's almost the same shape as the wall, but in the opposite direction. I find these ocean pools very intriguing. We have nothing like it here on the eastern coast of USA as far as I know. Good shot!
@onewing It was a 6 month secondment with hubby's job. We did love it but our parents getting older and we didn't want to be so far away from them. Actually, the Summers have been SO hot in Sydney since we left, I know I couldn't have enjoyed it. Anything above 24 degrees C and I am wilted and gone!!
There are a few ocean pools in Sydney, of course, the most famous are at Bondi, Bronti and Cronulla. which one do your relatives swim at?
Hope you are feeling better soon Heather.
There are lots of ocean pools in Australia and they are very popular all year round.
It does look rather like a submarine doesn't it, maybe that design is deliberate because the baths are close to Fort Scratchley where a Japanese submarine was sighted during the war.
