Wildflowers and Tree Bark by onewing

Wildflowers and Tree Bark

No photos today because we have been at the hospital in Newcastle for David's appointment. All looking good and he is able to drive again.

I took a series of photos while on the walk with our walking group last Thursday. Here is a selection of wildflowers and tree bark I put together in a collage.

As I am not very good at identifying flowers I can't tell you what the majority of these are, but I do know the top left one is a flannel flower and there were hundreds of them in the bushland.

I believe the bottom left flower is commonly called egg and bacon. No idea why, but one of our walkers said that was its name.
A lovely collage Babs, such beautiful shots in there and great variation.

beautiful collage Babs. I love Flannel Flowers and yes we call them Eggs and Bacon too because of the yellow "yolk" and the brown "bacon". So glad David has the all clear at last

A lovely collage of wildflowers

So glad to hear all is well with David. He must feel great to be able to drive again. Nice collage too. I guess the yellow color is supposed to be like the yellow of the egg yolk and maybe the red, the meaty part of the bacon? Seems like a funny name for a flower that looks like an orchid!

glad David is better - I bought a little handbook recently that identifies flora and fauna from Newcastle to Nowra and out over the mountains to Lithgow - I shall practice identifying on your collages :)
September 26th, 2017
I know the bottom left as egg and bacon too - since childhood lol
September 26th, 2017
@julzmaioro Thanks Julia. Somebody on our walk said the egg and bacon flower was a member of the pea family and I suppose the top right does have a similar shape.

@cruiser @gilbertwood @nicolecampbell @helenhall @littleconnie @chimfa @happypat @olivetreeann @annied Thanks. As you know I am not good at identifying flowers. I think I need a handbook like you have Annie.
David is relieved that he is able to drive again. It has been a long 6 weeks for him. He still isn't able to drive long distances or go in an aircraft until his blood thinners meds are finished and he has another ultrasound for the DVT, but at least he is mobile on his own again.

@onewing the yellow one top right is interesting - is it a tree or shrub?
September 26th, 2017
@annied It is a shrub. I think Julia said it was pea related but the flower is about 5 times the size of the bottom left egg and bacon flower.
September 26th, 2017
@onewing the bottom right is the Purple Coral Pea (Hardenbergia violacea) - we have a lot of pea flowers here :)
September 26th, 2017
@annied Obviously the pea capital of NSW.
September 26th, 2017
Lovely collage!
September 26th, 2017
@onewing ha ha glad it's pea not pee

September 26th, 2017
@annied I expect there are one or two of those around too, especially when us old folk are wandering in the bushland.
September 26th, 2017
Beautiful and interesting individual shots...lovely collage! Glad that your husband is able to drive again. :-)

So glad David is up and running. This looks great in collage. I always like some good bark texture.
September 26th, 2017
Just love this collage. I couldn't've named any more than your two. Good to hear David's cleared for take-off again.
September 26th, 2017
@888rachel @golftragic thanks. Guess where David went today, all on his own, now he can drive again. That's right ..... Bunnings!
September 26th, 2017
@onewing Stop it, stop it, stop it. I'll choke laughing.
