Yes Jane I was really that close. They have camel rides at Birubi Beach which is where this was taken and luckily this day they were all pretty pleasant. Know what you mean though Annie some can get a bit naughty sometimes. I have never had one spit at me, but a few months ago when I was taking photos at Birubi one made a really nasty growling sound at me. I backed off from that one and took a photo of his friend instead.
I just love camels, they have such attitude. My husband can't see what it is that I like about them.
