Thanks for all your lovely comments. Hippos are so ugly that for some reason it makes them beautiful if you know what I mean.
If you look closely at this chap you will see that he is a bit battle scarred and has a sore on his nose. He got into a fight with another hippo apparently and had to be given antibiotics. If you look at the next picture you will see the result.
