Smoke by onewing

Smoke

David and I were at a friend's house, as they were setting up a photo of an exploding light bulb and before they could take the shot they had to seal the area for draughts.

Someone had the idea of lighting a joss stick to see if there was any wind blowing anywhere and this was the pattern it made.

I just took this with my little point and shoot.

I can see quite a ghostly face in the smoke reaching out. Can anyone see it too.

Ooh yes the human ( or not so human )face is there - bit also a bigger outline of a dog's profile -- perhaps a greyhound !! Love looking into smoke and also flames and clouds -- there is often some interesting pattern there !!

Fantastic image Babs, lighting and focus spot on, love the pattern created, suspect the first idea would have been very challenging;)

A great abstract which leaves lots to the imagination! Reminds me of those photos that a psychologist would show you and ask you what it is!

@beryl Oh yes Beryl I can see your dog too. Never noticed that before. Strange what we find when we look deeper isn't it.

@pcoulson Thanks Peter. The exploding light bulb was a challenge, but they got some brilliant shots of it. Took ages to set up. A friend of ours works at Kmart and acquired a broken floodlight where the glass had broken but not the filament so they had the idea of plugging it in and watching it explode. We were all surprised that the whole thing lasted as long as 6 seconds thought it would be less than that, but the pictures which came from the experiment were brilliant.

@savannah51 You're right it does, at least we all saw the same face in the smoke which is reassuring. Beryl saw a dog too and I can see that now as well.

@hermann @888rachel @karlow75 @elaine55 @creampuff @dianeburns @chimfa @angelar @happypat @dgrynn @angelar @happypat @dgrynn @loweygrace Thank you all so much. I love seeing faces and patterns in things. Takes me back to RAF days when we used to have very strange patterned curtains in married quarters. Jane @chimfa will remember that. We used to look at the curtains and find faces in the patterns. Did you do that too Jane.

@april16 @lafish @golftragic Thanks. I love finding faces in smoke or clouds etc. Thanks too Marnie for the fav for my Fly Point photo, I noticed that you had fav'd it in the notifications, but it doesn't come up on the page.

Okay, so exploding light bulbs is what you do at your little get togethers. Huh.
May 13th, 2014
@onewing I've noticed this problem too Babs.
May 13th, 2014
@golftragic I suppose if you make a comment and also fav a photo it comes up on the page, but if you just fav it without any comment it just comes up in the notifications and the only way you know then if it has been fav 'd is if you check all the notifications or emails.

@onewing Yes, I'd come to the same conclusion.
May 13th, 2014
