Melbourne Cityscape by onewing

Melbourne Cityscape

I just love the cityscape architecture in Melbourne. The mixture of the old and the new buildings are beautiful.

This was taken on our last trip to Melbourne at Christmas and I thought it worked quite well in black and white.

@karlow75 Yes the weather wasn't too bad. Typical Melbourne though. We were there at Christmas and the New Year. Travelled down at 42 degrees all the way from Sydney to Healesville and the next day it was 13 degrees and freezing. It did warm up again though after that.

Lovely mixture of old and new. Guess the old buildings were considered tall when first built.

@kathiecb Thanks Kathie I think you are right. St Paul's Cathedral was probably a very impressive building when it was constructed in 1836 and even more so when the spires were added in the 1920's.

wonderful shot

That's a very interesting old/new image Babs. Must admit I look back to the low-rise and slightly shabby Melbourne of my youth. I think it had far more character than the vertical filing cabinets looming up all over the place.
