Your guess is as good as mine. by onewing

Your guess is as good as mine.

I have no idea what this actually is, but I just liked the shape of it. Maybe someone can give me an idea of what it would have been used for.

No idea either Babs, but a very interesting photo opportunity. I like how the rust has dripped and stained the concrete underneath.

Fascinating. It wasn't used as some sort of bell was it? I know that in the cowboy movies, Ma would summon Pa and the boys to their meals by banging on a wheel rim.

I couldn't tell you, especially hanging there like that. But great for your rusty theme.

I think it looks wheely good :-)
As a guess maybe it was used to roll up something, like hose?

I have no idea either, but it looks quite interesting all the same.

looks like a wheel but why there, I have no idea

You are doing so well in your search for rust every day - I think it's quite a challenge!

Looks to me part of an old belt drive system running off a statick steam engine, engine used just to power another bit of machinery, but what do I know, Great image Babs well spotted;)

Not a clue Babs but it is a great piece and a perfect addition to your rust collection! Great catch.

I guess it's some sort of water wheel! Actually done that a clue! Fabulous rust, nonetheless!

I think it's a make do. I don't have the thing I really need so this will make do. LOL

Thanks for all your great ideas on what this could be, but I think Peter and Marnie are probably closest. Definitely looks like an old belt drive system and my favourite is a from Marnie - a wim-wam for a gooses' bridle. I'll go with that ha ha.

@onewing Thanks Babs, my late grandparents would have been delighted. That was their standard answer to me when I asked unanswerable questions.

@debilz @april16 Im sticking with Marnie's suggestion. "a wim-wam for a gooses' bridle". Sounds good to me. ha ha. @golftragic
