Uploaded for information only. Having failed to do focus stacking due to my old version of PS I thought I would try to merge some of the photos taken with different focus points using Photomatix which I use for HDR pics.
As you can see the strangest things happened - where did the shadow come from? The answer is - FAILURE!! I will check out using HDR in camera but I don't think that will give me focus stacking as it gives you different EV and not different focus.
Many thanks for your great comments on yesterday's shots - the cobwebs both reached the PP which was great!!
@888rachel I think I need to update my whole system Rachel. Taffy has recommended a Mac laptop plus a large monitor for home editing. Sounds like a good idea which I am going to investigate. A bit nervous about the switch from PC to Mac.
@pamknowler Pam, how about I lend you my Macbook ( which I no longer use) to give you an idea of how the operating system works before you take the big leap. Great image, I like the shadow effect:)
Not even sure what stacking means so I'm about to look it up!
Don't worry too much about the switch Pam. Mac's are very user friendly and Sarah's suggestion is great.
It looks OK to me but I have no idea about focus stacking anyway. I think you take photos of the same scene moving round a bit and merging them together but I could be wrong and I wouldn't know how to do it anyway. I have Elements 13 but I tend to use if just for resizing images for camera club competitions that have to be a certain size. I'm useless at editing!
Very interesting! You would have thought that Photomatix would have aligned everything like an HDR rather than trying to create a shadow! Go figure....good for you for trying!
The shadowy effect makes it look like a double image and the blue gives it a nice pop. Good for you, for trying! I think you are correct about the HDR not working for the technique that you need.
