6th November 2015 - Choices

We got some colour charts yesterday to choose what colour we are going to paint the hall and also the kitchen/diner. I love looking at the charts and deciding what we are going to do with the decoration.

As I came out of the house this morning with Finlay on our way for a walk my neighbour Brenda was standing outside her house. I called over to say hello and asked if she was ok? She burst into tears!! I rushed over thinking something had happened to someone in her family!! It seems she has been trying to choose what colour to paint her lounge and just cannot make up her mind!! She has been trying to decide since last January and she is so depressed about it and doesn't know what to do!! She took me into her house to have a look. They have every shade of cream painted on cards and she cannot decide which shade she should have!! I couldn't believe it and told that every one of the colours she had would look lovely and if she didn't like it she could change it. She was horrified at that suggestion!! I said she should decide today and she would feel so much better. I got it down to two shades of cream for her (they looked identical to me!!) and left telling her to make her mind up. I am so puzzled by someone who could get into such a state over a shade of cream!!

I am filling in some gaps so don't worry about comments!
There's such a wide choice of colours, who would have thought that something as simple as white or cream would have so many variations!

Where do I start?! First, I am glad you are doing some painting at your house....it is always fun to get some fresh paint and brighten up the space! That is, if you are OK with changes, which obviously your neighbor is not!! Funny, as I was reading the beginning of your comments I thought they should make big swatches and put them on the walls they intend to paint so they can view them in every light, but obviously this is hindering them more than helping! I am glad you were around to assist....taking ten months to decide on a shade of cream is insanity! And, yes, you can always paint over...that's the beauty of it! I am afraid to be around when they are trying to decide on tile, which is a lot more permanent than paint!!

@panthora Osia when she said that once the painting is done she will have to choose new curtains and she asked if I thought she would find some to go! The whole room is cream! Cream Leather sofas and new fireplace cream marble ! Will she ever be able to make a decision?

Great shot, colors...I like picking paint colors...always do test on walls to make sure I like the shade :)

always a hard decision. I hope her curtain choice has a little color to pop the room but it doesn't look good from what you've said.

Your story is so funny!! I'm thinking back to having to choose colors for our whole house...seeing all the cards and ending up choosing three shades of gray. Am I boring or what???

Oh, what a funny story! Ten months to chose between cream or cream. I hate to think how long the curtains might take!

Great shot as a kid I always loved to look at these paint samples and often gathered them if my parents were in a shop where there were some. Now I gather them and use them to punch flowers and butterflies from for my card making!!! Hope your neighbour soon gets her decorating done then can get on with life.

@joansmor Not me Joan - we have already made our mind up for the dining room - duck egg blue and a mushroom/cream for the hall. We are decisive!! LOL!
