I turned my house upside down yesterday looking for my red something for todays shot. I was making some coffee when I realised that my fabulous red mixer was right under my nose!! Yes I had to make meringues and even tried to pipe a meringue heart for Valentines Day.
This takes me back to my wonderful holiday in Lunenburg with Louise and Ken @weezilou. Sitting in her kitchen watching her create many wonderful delicacies - she made me lots of American dishes I had never tasted - wonderful!! Finally out came her wonderful mixer (I have always wanted one of these since watching Bake off) and she proceeded to make the most delicious meringues I have ever tasted!! Of course I had to have the recipe and as soon as I got home I tried to make them. I only had my little hand mixer (a wedding present from 1975!!) and as I was whisking the egg whites the mixer got hotter and hotter. Yes I decided at that moment that I deserved to have a red mixer just like Louise's!! LOL!! That's my excuse anyway. I love my red mixer and stroke it as I walk by!! LOL!!
The bonus is I now have a box full of tiny meringues which I will now have to eat. It's a hard life!!
Happy Valentines Day to all my 365 friends - you are my Valentines!! xxxx
Simply Sensational, and I'm only sorry that I wasn't the first one here to say so! I love that we were able to share those exciting times in the kitchen making delectable goodies! This meringue heart shows you've mastered piping, and I look at this and think of the delicious "red desserts" you could pile in the center! (Cherry pie filling, chocolate dipped strawberries...cubes of red velvet cake with whipped cream...) Don't worry about saving me any...I have the original recipe! Happy Valentine's Day to you, m'friend!
Wow, these are amazing! I think I need to come to your house to tea once I have finished visiting @Weezilou to eat her homemade chocolates!! Just perfect for the flash of red challenge too.
@casablanca I've just come up with a GREAT idea! How about *I* come to England, and we'll make confections in Pam's kitchen and post our photos and everyone will wish they could join us! Do you think Denise would come from Australia? Rosie, Sarah? Lots of Brits... I love a party!
@Weezilou@casablanca That's what I call a plan!! LOL!! Mind you Louise I am looking forward to being in your kitchen in Lunenburg again later this year!!
This is fabulous, Pam! I love the reflection of the meringue heart in the mixing bowl too! I secretly wish my white stand mixer would die so I could buy a cobalt blue one! This is the perfect Flash of Red photo today. Do Finlay and George like meringue? 😊
Aw, man, here I am, late at night, trying not to give in to my pangs of hunger......and you aren't helping! You did, however, give us a great flash of red shot!
A fav.
The red kettle is a good match for s/c flashofred!!
