I was walking round the lake looking for water lillies when another photographer passed by. He commented that it was a bit too windy for insect shots and I said I was looking for Bee Orchids. As luck would have it he knew where there was one orchid and told me where to look. These orchids are tiny and the first time I walked down the path looking into the long grass I missed it completely. I thought I would give it one more go and suddenly spotted the tiny lone orchid. Finlay nearly trod on it!! Taken with my 100-400mm lens hand held.
Wonderful capture. It does look like a bee, before I enlarged it, I thought you had captured a bee on it. It takes me a moment to realize why it is called a Bee Orchid.
