This is a shot from last night at my sister's house where she cooked a birthday meal for her daughter-in-law. This is Alex my 16 year old great nephew who I have been trying to get a photo of for months now. His normal refrain is "I don't do photos!!" can you hear the teenage grumpy voice? This is taken with my iphone - I definitely would not have had a chance with my SLR!! I kept asking him if i could take his photo as a present for my sister - his grandmother - as she didn't have a recent one of him. Finally he looked at me and smiled!! What a difference a smile makes!! LOL!!
16 year olds are so touchy about their looks. I know I was. When I looked in the mirror I could only see what I thought were imperfections. I think this is a great portrait. I love the half smile!
