A Picture Postcard Scene - Cala Mesquida, Mallorca, Spain
I'm behind on posting because we went away on holiday / vacation for a week
We managed to avoid the wet, rain and wind that appeared to engulf the whole of the UK for the extended UK public holiday.
We spent a week in Cala Mesquida, Mallorca, Spain. A tranquil and beautiful little resort.
One street, 3 hotels (all owned by the same group), a couple of restaurants, a butcher ,a bakers, a pharmacy, two supermarkets (a shop passes for a supermarket in Mallorca) and one bar. Not a Brit bar to be seen and very few British visitors (I counted 3 in our hotel) ....bliss :)
This is a picture postcard scene, shot from the end of the headland at the end of the 'one street'... looking over the beautiful beach.........fine golden sand backed by dunes and pine forests , flanked on either side by breathtaking hills and mountains. You share the beach with the locals, quite a few Germans and quite a few mountain goats that drift down from the mountains to feed off the rocks and dunes.
Almost idyllic
I'm afriad my catchup pictures are going to be a week of Playa / Sea / Goats / Sand and dunes.
This is probably the most photographed location of Cala Mesquida
It sounds like heaven Phil & great to escape our awful weather & also the traditional English holiday maker too! I love that row of beautiful wave amid the deep blue sea. It looks quite a shallow beach too ideal for swimming. I have never ever been to Spain & would think there are many variations of types of holiday. Where was Ruby ?
@happypat thank you Pat , it was very relaxing and great to enjoy some warm sun and swim in the sea. My daughter looked after Ruby for a few days and then she went into the kennels for the rest of the week :(
wonderful shot Phil - thought you'd gone quiet! I went shooting in London with Gill Golding and Wendy Chapman on Wednesday - they both send their regards
Take your time, Phil. It's not much of a vacation if you have to work hard to catch up. It looks like you had a wonderful spot to relax. Looking forward to seeing your vacation photos.
@phil_howcroft Have you been back in time to see the Jubilee come to Nottingham? My daughter sent me this link http://tinyurl.com/c87k6fa and ! couldn't help think what fun it would be to see the festivities up close.
