Going to the match, contre jour style

You may have remembered at the start of the month I posted a link to a famous LS Lowry painting which depicted Bolton Wanderers fans walking down to 'Burnden Park', the old home of Bolton Wanderers.

Going to the match'..............

Well this is my version of 'going to the match'. Shot at the Reebok Stadium, the very modern home of Bolton Wanderers.

Shot contre jour style on a cold and sunny autumn afternoon in Bolton

The match was against Barnsley and finished 1-1. We had enough chances to win by a large margin, but every shot appeared to be straight at the keeper. A bit of shooting practice needed in training next week me thinks !!

Half time was rather surreal, with an eight foot high lion (Lofty the lion - Boltons mascot) doing the lucky raffle draw with two ex players and an eight foot SLICE of TOAST !! I thought it was 'Sponge Bob Square Pants' but my mate assured me it was a slice of Toast. The PA announcer then informed us that it was indeed a slice of toast and the toast was promoting loft insulation and cavity wall insulation grants from Bolton Council. Yes Toast ..'Mr Toasty'...'warm as toast'...who on earth dreams up these things ....absolutely awful idea....like something out of 'Peter Kays Pheonix Nights'.....I should have took a pic of the said toast, but at half time the light was poor and zooming 50 metres under floodlights would have made for a poor shot !
Love these shadows... and count yourself they didn't go with the duvet man, or the big duffle-coated man.. you might have thought it was John Motson escaped from the commentary box!

Great shot, captures the atmosphere and the anticipation so well, all bending slightly forward eager to get there. Like the idea of Mr Toast, and I love Peter Kay!

A lovely wintry man shot, I can feel the excitement from here !!!The Reebok is a very stunning stadium & Bolton should be proud of it!!
The toast sounds a weird thing ,it takes all sorts to encourage the crowd these days! Of course I won't be able to stop singing''Match Stick men now!!!!!
