River Leen Old Basford by phil_howcroft

River Leen Old Basford

Nottingham is renowned for it's River....The River Trent.

This is the River Leen, winding it's way through 'industrial Old Basford'...or what remains of 'industrial Old Basford'

I used to cross the little bridge on my daily commute to the West Midlands. Now I work in Old Basford, Nottingham, it's only a 10 minute walk from school.

You cannot get down to water level, so this is all I can do to catch and share a bit of industrial Nottingham

I like the drainpipe that stops in mid air !
Great pov

Interesting how the river goes between the two buildings. I like the mossy walls.

This is rather unusual the way that little river, which I image gets much wider as it gets into the country, is channelled through these old industrial buildings. the water even from this angle looks fresh & clean!

@happypat thanks Pat, the area I work in is really interesting, it should provide lots of photo opportunities ...i think the river was probably diverted to provide water for the factory buildings

In olden times they used to use water for driving things. Perhaps they did this here?

@maggiemae thanks maggie, i am sure in days gone by they used the water for the factories

@fannyb Fanny, it's all fenced off, you cannot get down there ......i'd have loved to have got down for a good POV
