The Band Played On by phil_howcroft

The Band Played On

Nottingham City Council run a series of free 'open air brass band' concerts throughout the summer. When I say summer, it was raining on Sunday.

This is the Bestwood Welfare 'Black Diamonds' Band, playing in the Bandstand on the Embankment at the side of the River Trent.

@happypat thanks Pat, the East Midlands has quite a few brass bands, most of them going back to when Nottinghamshire used to have lots of Collieries / Coal Mines . This band originates from Bestwood Colliery. You have probably seen a few of my pictures from Bestwood Country Park :)

I love his "Too cool for school" glasses! Tuba on, dude! Tuba on! As a brass instrument player (well, former player) I think it is great that people offer these free concerts and that people still come to them! (I played French Horn)
