Cloud Computing

Well this is uninspiring. Cloud Computing. My Media Server and my router helping keep my virtual world working and therefore my 365 ticking over.

Struggling for photos. Our winter days are still too short and the weather dreadful.

Awesome shot

These are all Chinese to me, Phil. Whenever I need change it is always my son or son-in-law who suggest and do everything. My computer skills are limited to using the computer only.

I'm confused too - so your cloud thing is your wifi or storage?

@judithg Network Storage Device (known as a NAS). It is a 4TeraByte storage device that plugs into your router. You can store any files on it....documents, pictures, music , movies etc.

You can then stream or display, music / photos / movies to any device on your home network (laptop / tablet / phone / ipad / television / radio / fancy wifi speakers).

You can also set it up so you can access it via t'internet remotely anywhere in the world or make it look like a network drive anywhere in the world !

Clever, much more versatile than an external hard drive. I am sure the Greenwood household would benefit from such a device :)

@phil_howcroft secure? I think you're right - we need one!

@judithg secure at home yes, i have not opened mine up to remote access from the internet . This is a western digital my cloud (WD MyCloud), I bought it from Maplins (not maybe the cheapest, but it was local and they seem to have good customer service after sales)

My 1000's of pictures are available on my phone / tv / tablet .... Jane is impressed with that (well maybe not, but she likes the option to stream music through our tv sound bar and sub woofer)

I need something like this to unclog my computer of photos - they are life's little helpers and deserve recognition.
