Locked Gates by phil_howcroft

Locked Gates

The rear entrance to an industrial Park in Basford, Nottingham

A rather grand gateway to an old factory that has been reclaimed into small industrial units.

I've never seen the gates open as the main entrance is around the corner.

I could do with some human interest in the shot. Maybe somebody leaning on one of the pillars or walking into the frame on the left hand side.

This looks fab in b&w :)

Yes it does look rather bleak with the brick pillars and the severe look of the gates! But bleak is good in photography!

lovely old brick pillars

It does look great in b&w. Nicely processed as well. People are never around when you need them :)

fine detail and processing

An imaginary friend? Maybe someone hiding behind those brick pillars? I like it this way though....great lines and textures.

Nice textures and this makes me think of the former site of Ford Motor Company, (where I used to do a bit of teaching) which has had locked gates for a couple of years, but now has been sold for development.

Love the b & w. Well done.

When I feel like you are saying, Phil, I do some cheating. With photoshop I add somebody from another picture. But that gate looks majestic enough. Love it the way it is.

Very nice B&W - is that cobbled stone in the foreground? If so it adds nice texture to the image.

Looks good in b&w. Can imagine the owner of the original factory was out to impress.

I like the detail, this reminds me a little of a steel engraving. Forbidding looking place. Looks like they've been pestered by dubious collectors of scrap in the past.

They were enthusiastic brickies in those days! A very grand entrance & must have been the main entrance once. Why haven't you got a portrait in the theme entries Phil?
January 7th, 2016
@happypat thanks pat. I didn't know there was a theme . I have difficulty posting regularly that I rarely read the discussions etc. I cannot find the theme 😕😕 just looked

@dulciknit good spot on the scrap Alison. I thought of doing a shot of the script warning by making it macro and textured.
January 7th, 2016
@phil_howcroft it's the monthly theme Phil. On the main page when all the photos come up, in the bottom corner.
January 7th, 2016
@phil_howcroft Sorry weekly!

I quite like it with no people! The tree gives it a living element!
